At the core of Cruz’s practice lies a devotion to resin and stone, where inherited technique and architectural clarity merge to create sculptural pieces illuminated from within.
Adrian Cruz
Mexican architect and designer Adrian Cruz creates contemporary collectible design pieces where resin, onyx and light converge, blending inherited craftsmanship with pure geometric forms inspired by Mexican culture and European architectural tradition.
Mexican architect and designer Adrian Cruz creates collectible resin and onyx pieces that explore memory, light and cultural identity through refined sculptural forms.
Cruz’s creative journey began with the resin artworks made by his grandfather Chema, a pioneer of the material in 1940s Mexico City. As a child, he played with these translucent objects, captivated by the way light moved through them. After years of architectural study in Florence, these memories resurfaced, prompting him to explore resin as a medium to express his roots, his culture and his vision.
Working with crystal resin, onyx and marble, Cruz develops objects defined by clarity, geometry and material depth. His lighting pieces balance sculptural purity with vivid color, reflecting both Renaissance architectural forms and the chromatic richness of Mexican folklore. Each work blurs the line between functional design and contemporary collectible art, shaped with meticulous craftsmanship and emotional resonance.
More than a designer, Adrian Cruz sees his work as a continuation of a family legacy rooted in experimentation, material curiosity and emotional connection. Through collections such as Bulbe, Rotonda and Tallo, he reinterprets the cultural landscapes of Mexico, infusing each piece with the chromatic intensity and symbolic depth of his heritage. His process involves casting, carving and refining resin and onyx with master artisans in Mexico, bringing forward a rare synthesis of tradition and contemporary design.
Living between Belgium and Mexico allows Cruz to cultivate a practice informed by European architecture and Mexican color theory. His pieces reflect the contrasts of both worlds, balancing minimal geometry with vivid tones and atmospheric transparency. Exhibited internationally and sought after by collectors, his work has established him as a leading figure in resin based contemporary collectible design. Through each object, Cruz honors the memory of Chema and transforms his family’s artisanal lineage into a renewed, timeless design language.
