The Speaker Chair V02 explores the intersection of furniture, sound, and unfinished architectural material. Constructed from yellow birch formwork plywood, the chair deliberately retains the character of its industrial material. Visible knots, grain variations, and surface markings are treated as integral elements of the design rather than concealed imperfections. The result is an object that feels raw, utilitarian, and architectural, with its bold yellow surface giving the substantial form an unexpected visual intensity.

Sound as Sculpture

Five working speaker drivers are integrated directly into the chair body, creating a seamless relationship between the furniture and its audio function. AUX and Bluetooth connectivity allow the chair to operate as a contemporary sound system while maintaining the visual language of an unfinished construction object.

A Cross-Border Collaboration

The chair is the product of a collaboration developed entirely at a distance: Studio S.B, led by designer Simon Barazin in Tel Aviv, defined form and proportion; 22F, the Kyiv studio founded by Bogdan Kryvosheya, engineered and built the piece. Both practices share a visual inheritance rooted in socialist-era and post-Soviet Eastern Europe, a common code that let the collaboration proceed without translation, simplicity favored over gesture, material left raw rather than resolved. Some have called the result meta-brutalism. Speaker Chair V01 premiered at Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week 2026; V02 continues the series as a standalone piece.

Each chair carries its own surface figure. Knots and grain do not repeat from one piece to the next.
