The Pankalangu Cabinet extends the same Western Arrernte story across a taller, more architectural form, a being that hides completely in the desert scrub and appears only when rain, caught in the light, outlines its shape. Developed with permission and guidance from Western Arrernte elders and senior custodians at Hermannsburg, the cabinet treats the creature's concealment and revelation as its central structural idea rather than a decorative motif borrowed from elsewhere.

Its curved walnut doors are entirely covered in individually cut plywood scales, copper set into each edge. Opened, the cabinet reveals a fitted interior of drawers and shelving in the same timber; closed, its scaled exterior shifts between near-invisibility and a glistening silhouette depending on where the light falls.
