The smallest scale of a creature built to disappear.
Completing the Pankalangu series at occasional-table proportions, this piece carries the same Western Arrernte story into a compact form, a being camouflaged in the bush, its presence given away only by rain catching the light. The story was shared and interpreted in ongoing collaboration with Western Arrernte custodian Baden Williams and senior custodians at Hermannsburg, who guided its translation into design.
Two scaled walnut panels, each built from individually cut plywood scales edged in copper, form the table's structure, opening slightly to reveal a hollow within. At this scale, the pattern reads almost as texture rather than camouflage, small enough to be examined closely rather than seen from across a room.
Available in a number of timber species, please inquire for details.
